Norfolk Lodge was represented by Bro. Ari Marcus on the Needham Channel's special about the Thanksgiving Dinner which is hosted each year at the Needham Masonic building for members of the Needham Community.  The event is run by the Rotary Club in conjunction with Norfolk Lodge and the Needham Community Council.  Last year the event served more than 190 members of the community.

Over the past few years Norfolk Lodge has become more involved in the event.  The building has donated by the Needham Masonic Corporation (who owns the Needham Masonic Building) but over the past few years Norfolk Lodge has been involved in the set up, serving, and breakdown for the event.  The Lodge's involvement in the event exemplifies Masonry's commitment to helping the community. This is a tradition that the Lodge hopes to continue to be involved with for many years.  This year the Needham Masonic Building will once again be hosting the event which begins at 11:30 am.

Norfolk Lodge started off the Masonic year this past Monday at their Regular meeting with several important milestones.  First of all the new officers for the upcoming year were installed into their positions with the Worshipful Master serving Norfolk Lodge for another year.  He was also presented with his past Master's Jewel, which is given to every Master of the Lodge on the completion on their first team.  This jewel was previously worn by the first Master to serve Norfolk Lodge in our current lodge building back in the 1970s

But, perhaps even more special was that one of the brothers of Norfolk Lodge was honored by the Grand Lodge of Massachusetts with the Distinguished Service Medal, Wor. Deke Eaton of Needham.  This medal is given to brothers who are active in their lodge, their community, and their church.  He has been active in the town of Needham and the Lodge since his retirement from American Airlines.  Brother Eaton's wife and son were in attendance to see him receive this award.

After the meeting the brothers retired to the dinning room to partake of fellowship and good food.

Norfolk Lodge continued its annual tradition of holding its family picnic where brothers and their families can come together to enjoy fellowship outside of the walls of the Lodge.  This event truly exemplifies not only the spirit of fraternalism in Masonry but also the spirit of Norfolk Lodge.  The weather also kept its tradition of holding off the rain until the outing was finished despite the forecast to the contrary .  Many of the brothers, both old and young came out to spend the day in the sun with their families and enjoy good food, good weather, and good company.  Norfolk Lodge hopes that this tradition will continue for many years to come.

Norfolk Lodge's Annual Christmas Tree sale has officially come to the a close.  This year was one of the biggest sales in recent years and Norfolk Lodge would like thank all of our customers old and new who came and bought a Christmas tree.  The residents of Needham and the surrounding communities have always greatly supported the Lodge in this endeavour over the several decades that this sale has been going on.

This is the Lodge's single biggest fundraiser of the year and not only helps us to operate but also allows us to invest in the future of the town by supporting some of the many local organizations that play an active role in making Needham great.  Organizations such as the Public Works Department, the Needham Community Council, the Needham Exchange Club, and the Charles River YMCA to name just a few.

The Lodge wishes everyone a happy end to their holiday season and is already looking forward to seeing everyone back next year

Norfolk Lodge hosted its first annual Cigar Smoker this August, just one example of the fraternal activities hosted by the Lodge this past year .  There was a great turnout event with Masons travelling from as far away as Chatham to enjoy good food, good company and good cigars.  It is time of the year when the Lodge does not meet.

Besides good food, a bag full of high-end cigars, and plenty of other refreshments, there was a demonstration of hand-rolling of cigars by Cuban native Roxana Perez. She even took some time to show our own, Bro. Dustin Briere, how to roll his own!

A great time was had by all who attended the event, and the Lodge hopes that we will be able to host the event again next year.

The Norfolk Lodge officers would like to congratulate two brothers for completing major milestones. First of all congratulations to Wor. Brother Chris Blood who completed the Boston Marathon on April 17th. He ran for this year for Dana Farber. This held a great deal of significance as he ran in the memory of his uncle, John H. Bergstrom who lost his battle to cancer last November.

Second, our Junior Warden Jared LaLiberte finished his second 5k of the season with a personal best of 34 minutes in the Boston Athletic Association 5k. Congratulations to both brothers.

At the December Communication of Norfolk Lodge the Lodge hosted its annual ladies and widows night. After a quick business meeting the Lodge received the Grand Master of Masons in Massachusetts, along with a distinguished suite of visitors. The Grand Master then presented R.W. Scott D. Inglis with the Distinguished Service Medal, also referred to as the Joseph Warren Medal.

The Joseph Warren medal is a given to a brother who has served his community, church, and lodge. R.W. Inglis was proposed by Wor. Centola during his term. After the ceremony the Grand Master closed the Lodge in Ample Form and the members, along with their families and guests adjourned to the dinning room for a great meal and fellowship.
